Hierarchy

Hierarchy is a ranking of individuals within a group (the same as it's usual use).

This reduces interspecific competition as animals only have to fight once to establish the hierarchy. This means that they do not have to fight each time a conflict occurs, hence saving energy over the longer term.

The main adaptive advantage of hierarchy is:

happiness
interspecific competition reduction
saving energy
save food
