Nastic responses

A nastic response is a non-directional movement response in a plant to a stimulus

This means that it will cause a plant to move if it is touched, light changes or it gets cold

As with tropism, there is a huge list of nastic responses

  • Thigmonasty (touch)
  • Hydronasty (water)
  • Chemonasty (chemicals)
  • Photonasty (light)
  • Thermonasty (heat)

  • A venus fly trap moves when touched. This is:

    photonasty
    thigmonasty
    hydronasty
    thigmotropism

A dog jumps when touched. This is:
    photonasty
    thigmonasty
    None of these
    thigmotropism
